The well-known scholar of Dagestan, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Gaji Gamzatov was elected as a Foreign Member of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences.

• Khunzakhian (Dagestanian) specialist in study of literature
• Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1984);
• Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991);
• Full Member – Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Department of Language and Literature – 2000);
• Former Chairman of Presidium of Scientific Center of Dagestan;
• Former Director of G.Tsadasa Institute of Language, Literature and Arts;
• Adviser of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philological Science, Professor;
• The main directions of scientific activities: study of multinational literature of Dagestan and the Northern Caucasus, study of national-cultural and folklore heritage;
• He is the author of more than 350 scientific works (including 15 monographs) concerning the questions of modern study of literature, folkloristics, sociolinguistics, oriental studies and culturology;
• He is the founder of Dagestanian school of study of literature and culturology;
• Important is Gaji Gamzatov’s contribution to the development of international scientific relations;
• Great are his merits in the development of Dagestanian-Georgian scientific-cultural and social relations.
